Grey Albatross: Appias melania
This butterfly is restricted to the Wet Tropics where it can often
be seen along the edge of the rainforest feeding on flowers such as those of the Lantana.
This plant is a weed with brightly coloured red, pink, yellow and orange flowers that
are nectar-rich and attract many of the rainforest butterflies.
The Grey Albatross is a member of the family Pieridae. Others in this family include the
Nysa Jezabel, Nigidius Jezabel, Union Jack and Common Jezabel.
