This regular steam train run leaves Atherton’s Platypus
Park (off Herberton Road on the southern side of town), passes wetlands
and climbs Queensland’s steepest line.
Enjoy panoramic Tableland views, a 181m tunnel, Carrington Falls, huge
cuttings and timber trestle bridges on your way to historic Herberton, the
“village in the hills”.
While in Herberton, you can savour the historical flavour of this old tin
mining village, browsing through its interesting shops and enjoying
delicious things to eat.

Ravenshoe to Tumoulin

This regular steam train run leaves Ravenshoe’s station, pulling its
historic carriages through open bushland and across trestle bridges for
the little siding of Tumoulin, at 960m (3160ft), the highest railway
station in Queensland.
Ravenshoe is famous for its timber industry, and during WWII was a
importing training camp for many soldiers before embarking for the Pacific
war.
Ravenshoe is a picturesque country town, the highest in Queensland, and
enjoys warm summers and crisp winters.
