Native Monstera
Native Monstera: Rhaphidophora pinnata This is a large-leaved climbing plant found both in highland and lowland rainforest, often used as a popular decorative indoor plant. Monsteras are root climbers, which means that as well as their normal soil roots, their main stems develop long and flexible cane-like roots that securely attach them to a supporting tree. Monstera leaves of young plants are entire, but as the plant matures they become attractively divided. Many Monstera plants produce large white coloured hooded flowers that are followed by big fleshy fruits. Some of these are edible when ripe and considered a delicacy.
